To Sell or Not to Sell, That is the Question

Okay - here's the quandary.  If I create art that other people would want to put on their walls - then I am selling work and could make a living wage as an artist.  Perhaps.  Or is that pandering to the most common denominator? Ideal - to create what you want from the soul - and then if they like it - bonus!  So this little piece is a foray into the world of wine - very fun to do, but also very commercially viable without being too risky.  The plan is to add encaustic layering to this series and find a unique approach to a very typical subject matter.  My soul says... is that selling out?
